Orodispersible Films - A patient-centric approach in personalized medicine

Pharmacists
Students (Pharmacy)

Pharmaceutical compounding, Pharmaceutical technology

The patient-centric concept focuses on patients’ needs and preferences, putting them at the center of their treatment, considering personal preferences, opinions, values, and circumstances. It aims to improve patients’ lives and well-being. Advancements in research and pharmaceutical technology led to a new approach known as orodispersible films (ODF). This new pharmaceutical form has gained attention in the medical community due to its unique properties of quick dissolution and disintegration. Additionally, it is highly suitable for all groups of patients, from pediatric to geriatric, and they can carry multiple APIs for different clinical conditions.

In this course, we will discuss how ODFs can benefit patients by addressing their particular needs, by also introducing OrPhyllo™, an innovative ODF base for personalized compounding.
