Dr. Richard Burroughs

Dr. Richard Burroughs recently retired from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria, where he served as a wildlife clinician and Director of the Centre for Veterinary Wildlife Studies, overseeing undergraduate and postgraduate wildlife training. Prior to this, he spent 12 years in private wildlife practice and 10 years as a zoo veterinarian. With over three decades of experience in wildlife veterinary medicine, he has worked extensively with a wide range of species in clinical, translocation, and quarantine settings. He has published more than 25 scientific papers, co-edited and authored books on wildlife anaesthesia and game capture, and has presented widely at continuing education courses.
